The Celestine Vision, by James Redfield

We are opening again to the evidence for a transcendent and divine presence behind our existence, a divinity that is operating daily in our lives. And we're doing so though a series of numinous Insights, each building on the ones proceeding.

Most important in this awakening is what I have called the First Insight: our developing perception in our lives of meaningful coincidences, a phenomenon Swiss psychologist Carl Jung called "synchronicity." Such moments always seem to bring us new information, or a sudden opportunity, that, when we review it deeply, always seems to be beyond chance, as though the events were somehow destined to occur in our lives. Biographies are full of such events.

My favorite example occurred in the life of Abraham Lincoln. As a young man, he wanted very much to enter law and politics, yet at first it seemed he had no opportunity to pursue this vision in the small farm village of his youth. Then one day a peddler, down on his luck, offered to sell the young Abe an old barrel of dry goods for a dollar. Something told him to take the deal and at the bottom of the container he found a full set of current law books. He studied these books, and went on to complete his remarkable destiny.

Such events, when they happen to us personally, always give us a sense of unfolding purpose, and inject in our lives the sense that we are helped and guided. What's more, we are understanding now that this flow of destiny is always there, whether experienced for the first time, or rediscovered after being sucked back into the banal life of everyday struggle for a time. Age has no relevance here. The key is to grab hold of this awareness whenever you can and not let go. You have a destiny that is divinely intended and reflected in your own sense of what most inspires you. And it's always waiting to open up for us.

The other Insights build on the first because they progressively school us on how to stay in this flow of synchronicity. They give us evidence of where we are headed. The Second through the Fourth are insights that orient us more into the true track of history from this perspective and give us a larger view of this awakening, so that we can take this new consciousness seriously.

The Fifth can be seen as the engine of our connection with the source of this personal evolution, a self that is anchored in a divine guidance, because it steers us to the real experience of that connection, and feels like a higher divine part of ourselves suddenly looking through our eyes. We have the sense that we are becoming more of who we really are, complete with an ongoing intuition that provides clarity and day-to-day direction.

Be cautious about theories that say we can manifest anything we want. That's true, but if our manifestation comes from strictly an ego outlook instead of a higher consciousness of personal mission, things can get rocky. All of us, and I mean all, by virtue of growing up spiritually lost, have a personal way of distracting ourselves from our destiny -- you know, a way of keeping busy with some obsessive thought pattern or behavior that pacifies us for a time, so we can forget about our deeper ontological questions. Some of these bad habits can be seriously self-destructive or selfish, and trying to manifest with this lack of connection usually just brings on more rude reminders that we need to find a more fulfilling path of higher calling.

Our old habits are so insidious, often the only way to be sure we're on the right track is to keep asking for guidance into what we are really here to do -- because that point of view leads to a healthy exploration of what our highest self wants, and thus initiates the greatest and easiest flow of success.

The Sixth Insight through the Ninth, as well as the Tenth and Eleventh covered in the sequel books, all speak to this vision of clearing out our ego dramas and getting our destined flow going. They explain the importance of listening for our intuition, uplifting others, and setting a positive prayer field working ahead of us which both creates and recognizes our best path. This path feels like we are centering into the star role of our own movie, surrounded by mystery, and creates a sense of courage born of clarity about our collective future.

Bring in this consciousness by asking for and imaging a heavenly light coming down around you. And don't be satisfied with the mental version of this request. See the plants and buildings and people in your life lighting up in rich color and more sparkling form. Feel the energy lift. Remember that it's the day-to-day inspiration and contribution we make that is most meaningful, so tell your truth to the individuals who cross your path.

Pay it all forward and know that it's not necessarily about being famous. It's about making a difference where we are. Heed your call, be intuitive yet also logical (the integration of the left and right hemispheres of your brain), and the true world we are promised will open up in your life.
